A very enjoyable (but sometimes cold) day at the Joe Carmody Athletics Track. Congratulations to all children who participated well in the activities for the day, especially our choir who looked and sounded great on stage.

A final reminder that next week is BOOKWEEK. On Tuesday 15^th August guest storyteller – Hendre Roelink will be in the school.

Book Week Dress-Up Parade is on Friday 18^th August. As the theme for Book Week is

‘ On the Edge of Tomorrow’, all students have been encouraged to dress-up as a character from the future, the past or as their favourite book character.

Parents are welcome to watch the parade at 9.00am.

Also during this week we will be launching the story writing competition. All students will be invited to take part in writing and illustrating a children’s Picture Story Book. More information on this later.

‘Parent to Parent Gippsland’ is a parent and family focused support organization for parents and families who have a child aged birth – 18years with a disability or significant delay.

Services available include

• linking parents to other parents who have a child with the same or similar disability.
• linking parents to support groups in their region, and state wide.
• providing information on disabilities, and support organizations that the family may link into.
• guidance with education matters, especially when enrolling into pre-school or school, providing and advocate to work with the family.

The Sports Club is to develop the full potential of our local athletes. To achieve this goal the club will hold quality training sessions conducted by top coaches and players in the Latrobe Valley. The club will host numerous sports clinics, events and activities. Members will have free access to all such planned functions. The Sports Club will have a registration day Saturday August 12, 2000. Children may register on the day between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

If your child has misplaced any piece of school uniform this year, would you please check the lost property TOMORROW as anything that is not claimed by Friday 11^th of August will be washed and sold at our secondhand uniform sale (date to be set).

• If you are a new parent to our school and are the holder of a valid Centrelink pension/healthcare card you need to come to the office to fill in an Education Maintenance Allowance form (even if you have done so at your previous school).
